The Age Pension is adjusted every 6 months on March 20 and September 20.
Recently, just before the September 20, 2022 increase, Fair Go For Pensioners, the AMWU Retired Members Division and LIFE Campaign combined to produce a new “explainer” that does 2 things.
First, it explains how the age pension system works, covering its link to 2 cost of living measures and weekly wages. Our experience is that many pensioners do not know how the system works.
Second, it explains how more pensioners are living at and even below the poverty line, and why that is wrong.
This explainer is the first in a series and will be supported by a post-budget national online seminar.
